Suzanne Harmatz

Team USA Athlete • Coach • Endurance Competitor

Born and residing in England for most of my adult life, swimming has always played a vital part of my life. As a competitive swimmer, my love of the water eventually led me into a career as an internationally renowned swim instructor that has spanned more than 30 years.

While residing in England, I taught swimming in both public and private schools, in addition to athletes and those with special needs. During that time, I went on to establish and successfully run my own swim school.
Teaching swimming has never been just a job for me; it has been my passion and my life's work.

Throughout my swimming career, I have worked with swimmers of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds, including individuals with special needs. I believe every swimmer is unique, and I tailor my instruction to match each individual's strengths, needs, and goals. I take pride in creating a supportive, patient, and encouraging environment where each swimmer can build confidence, develop skills, and achieve their specific goals.

In 2020 I moved to Florida and continued to share my passion of swimming through private swim instruction and coaching.Outside of swimming, I have always enjoyed challenging myself as an athlete.
I am proud to have represented the United States of America as a member of Team USA on two occasions and as a member of the Women's Dragon Boat Team, earning six international medals.

I continue to train on a daily basis and at 56 years old I expect to again compete in Team USA competitions. One of the experiences I am most proud of was completing the London Marathon to raise funds for The Neuro Foundation after being inspired by one of my young swim students who was living with a brain tumor.

Through that student, I learned inner strength and prevailing in a challenging environment.  I continue to combine my love of teaching, sport, and helping others as I work with swimmers of all ages and abilities.

Whether a student's goal is to learn water safety or become an Olympian, I am here to motivate, coach, and make winners! My Coaching Philosophy

I believe it is never too early to build strong foundations in the water.
From the commencement of swim instruction, my swimmers are introduced to the essential skills that contribute to lifelong water safety, confidence, efficient movement, and correct technique.
Every lesson is designed to help swimmers become safer, stronger, and more confident in the water while developing skills that will last a lifetime.
